Video Resources owner and founder Brad Hagen, has accumulated nearly half a century of video production adventures. A childhood hobby of taking pictures and making 8mm films led to his first paid job as a student instructor for Huntington Beach Junior High School, when he was 14 years old. In high school and college, Brad simultaneously had a regular gig as a photographer for a local magazine and produced corporate videos with friends Judy Kilpatrick, Ace Erickson and Paul Murphey - the very first among scores of business/friendships that Brad treasures and maintains to today.
Brad's full-time position in video production began in 1978 as a video producer BJ Hughes, an energy service company in Long Beach. Over the next three years, he produced hundreds of videos, films, audio and photographic projects on locations throughout the US, The long hours paid off and he eventually became manager of the communications department, earning the name "Captain Video" from the engineering staff.
As Video Resources' General Manager, Ecar often calls on his 30 years of personal experience in the world of creative communications.
As a professional photographer, Ecar shot everything from landscapes to weddings to jet aircraft, then spent 15 years as owner of a retail camera store. That industry's transition to digital technology led to a brief stint as mobile disc jockey where Ecar called on his love of music and his singer/songwriter abilities.
Through a friendship with Brad that stretches back to their teens, Ecar eventually entered the world of video production, first becoming a Certified Legal Video Specialist, and eventually pitching in at nearly every other position at Video Resources.
A father of seven children, Ecar still finds time to be an avid sports fan (Go Angels!) and regularly enjoys camping and fishing.

Since then, he has earned an AA in Engineering Technology and is currently working towards his Bachelor of Science in Information Technology/Multimedia and Visual Communication.

Chuck graduated from Brooks Institute, School of Photography in 1973 with a BA in Illustrative Advertising. For over a decade, he enjoyed a successful photographic career working for a variety of national and international brands from food and beverage to automotive manufacturers. In 1985, creative burnout and health problems led to the launch of Chuck's career as licensed Private Investigator and the eventual co-ownership of a business that developed, sold and installed covert surveillance supplies. He teamed up with Video Resources in 2000, after recognizing a need for clarification and enhancement of images captured on surveillance systems.
Charles "Chuck" Perez leads our litigation support team, is a Certified Legal Video Specialist and is one of two staff members certified on the Avid-based "dTective" Forensic Video System.

After getting a BA in Philosophy from UC San Diego, it became clear to Neil that he would need to go to grad school to actually learn how to do something. So, he went to Arizona State University in pursuit of a Masters degree in Journalism and Mass Communication. While there, he worked as a broadcasting associate with Fox Sports Arizona, working on live broadcasts for the Phoenix Coyotes and Arizona Diamondbacks. Neil also served as a graduate assistant on ASU's weekly news broadcast, teaching undergraduate students the basics of Final Cut Pro and producing the show's opening and tease segments. He now serves as the media asset coordinator for Video Resources, maintaining our vast library of tapes, CDs and DVDs.
In his spare time, Neil is an avid sports fan, spending as much time on the golf course as humanly possible. If he's not there, you're likely to find him at Staples Center rooting for the Kings or at Anaheim Stadium cheering on the Angels.
As Video Resources in-house animator, Patrick routinely transforms complex concepts and procedures into easily understandable animations that help our clients realize their communication goals in a clear and effective manner.
Patrick joined Video Resources in 2006 after accumulating an impressive array of experience that spans nearly every aspect of film, television and stage production, including time with The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), Time Warner and Universal Studios. Patrick's moment of inspiration came while he was attending a high school for kids that needed a little direction in their lives.
The school had a fully equipped, broadcast-capable television studio, but no instructors to teach the class. Patrick did what any determined young man would do - he jimmied the lock and started throwing switches until something happened. His career path became clear at that moment, and it glowed an eerie, incandescent blue.
Patrick went on to attend Chapman University, and even before graduating landed his first job in the entertainment industry... digging trenches for the local cable television company. That cushy gig didn't last long before Patrick's determination propelled him into the master control center and then the studio.

Nearly 30 years of experience in photography, multimedia, audio-visual and production project management are behind Paul's work as an event producer for Video Resources.

Julie's career in graphic design began over 25 years ago, as mechanical paste-up artist for an ad agency in New Orleans. Julie's passion for computer animation started before that, when she won an Atari 400 computer in a McDonald's scratch-off contest, promptly purchased the now-classic Computer Graphics Primer and started teaching herself to program. Rubber cement and rub-off lettering gave way to keyboards, cables and CRTs, as Julie worked in marketing and art departments at computer component manufacturers, medical teaching facilities and media companies and at design and typography service bureaus. Julie brings remarkable organizational skills, great attention to detail and consistently high quality design to her work for Video Resources.
She has made key contributions to Video Resources project organization and tracking systems and had a hand in the production design and scriptwriting for many of our projects.
Julie left Video Resources in 2006, to serve as the executive director of a non-profit agency working in hurricane-impacted areas of Southeast Louisiana. With her beloved hometown of New Orleans on the road to recovery, Julie now contributes to Video Resources productions from there, as one of our wonderful team of contractors.
Since 1993, Julie has provided motion graphics and title design for hundreds of Video Resources projects, including many of award-winning productions.
