Transcode SDI and HD/SDI
to DVI
This past weekend while you were stringing popcorn
and cranberries, washing USC logos off your chests,
and wiping beer foam from you upper lip, I was
covertly following Santa around waiting for something
to fall off the back of his sleigh. My diligence paid
off yesterday when Old St. Nick cut the corner of
Tustin and Katella a little too tight, clipped the
curb and jounced a few packages off the back of his
rig. Faster then Anna Nicole reaching for her
pillbox, I darted in and grabbed what I could. I got
some help from Rudolph who deceided to use the delay
to make a pass at Vixen. The resulting commotion
caused Santa to halt his chase, give me the finger,
then boogie into the Taco Bell for a bucket of cold
water.
Anyway, when I got home and unwrapped my swag, this is what I had. From Doremi Labs comes the HDVI-10, a Standard Definition and HD Serial Digital Video, to DVI Converter. It is a compact digital video interface that converts serial digital video (SDI and HDSDI) to DVI (digital RGB). It automatically detects the input scan rate and supports a wide variety of video formats including PAL, NTSC, 720p, 1080p and 1080i. Use the HDVI-10 to display SDI and high definition SDI (HD-SDI) video on any display with DVI inputs. Connect to computer LCD monitors, HDTV Televisions with DVI input, video projectors and displays (Plasma, DLP, D-ILA etc.) The HDVI supports both DVI-HDTV Televisions (no scaling) and DVI-LCD monitors (automatic scaling). A very handy device at this time as HD production is rapidly enveloping us.
So on Christmas morning while you open you gifts, remember I put myself on the naughty list and am expecting to find the Mt Everest of coal in my stocking. But then again, I am the only one who knows where this new toy is. Lucky for you I am easily bribed.
