Sony HVR-Z1U HDV 1080 camcorder

HDV and DV NTSC camcorder

High Def? No. Not ignoring your significant other in a Nyquyl stupor.

VR's newest toy is the Sony HVR-Z1U HDV 1080 camcorder. The HVR-Z1U HDV 1080 camcorder can record HDV, DVCAM and DV images at 60i, 50i, 30, 25 or 24 frames per second, in either SD or HD. This switchable 60/50 capability allows videographers to use just one camcorder to meet an array of client needs. The new camcorder uses three Super HAD™, 1/3-inch, 16:9 native CCDs. Combined with a 12X Optical Zoom Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar® T* Lens and Sony's new 14 bit A/D with Digital Extended Processor (DXP), the HVR-Z1U's advanced design allows more light to reach each pixel in the imager, improving the signal-to-noise ratio and sensitivity.

Un-be-liev-a-ble! One serious drawback though. You gotta be careful where you point this thing. Looking at Brad through a Hi Def 16:9 viewfinder was like too many Tequilas and a fun house mirror. Not for the squeamish. I saw some footage of myself too. I gotta be honest, better resolution ain't always a treat. Kind of like putting on those new glasses and looking in the mirror. A mistake you only make once. The camera will be available for a test drive on Monday when it returns from USC Medical Center where its high resolution images are being used to detect any shred of gray matter within the 40 cubic tons  of air inside Anna Nicole Smith's head.

I'm sure you'll have questions but alas, they are falling on High Deaf ears.

Later.
